What is stronger or better, Granite or Marble?
Granite is formed by extreme heat rock, which is a much harder stone. You can find it with a variety of colors that may contain small shiny particles. It is the most abundant rock found on earth they use it a lot in offices and homes. If you want to make sure that it is granite just do a scratch test. With a knife blade, try to scratch the surface if it’s hard to scratch, then it’s likely to be granite. If you are able to scratch the stone it is either marble or limestone. Granite is generally heat and water resistant, generally it doesn’t react with acids (with the exception of Hydrofluoric Acid – HF Marble is a much softer stone than granite. It is a rock containing calcium carbonate, which reacts to acids. With this information, definitely the acidic cleaners will damage most marble surfaces. Therefore Marble is sensitive to acidic/citric foods like lemon and vinegar, so it’s not always a good choice for kitchen counter tops. You can usually identify marble because of its distinct swirls and/or veins. Marble will scratch with a knife, so it is not highly recommended to be used in high traffic areas, locations like central kitchens, hotel kitchens…
